Kenny, a friend of mine bought me a copy of the book "Bowerman"with your
inscription "For Craig Fossati . . . this will bring it all back - and more
" at Grandma's Marathon a couple week ago. While I did not run at Oregon
(my quarter was to slow) I intimately understood every line of the book and
was mesmerized throughout.
Every line in the book has meaning to
me and I want to thank you for detailing every event so eloquently.
I was at Pre's memorial that June day
in 1975 and whenever I tell the story to friends and acquaintances, even the
least educated track fan understands the impact of Pre on UofO and the state
of Oregon. Your words, "There's two minutes left, Pre could run half a
mile" are the most haunting words I'll ever experience. Without a doubt, Pre
was still on the track that day. His presence was as real as night and day.
